Nailing Neon

Neon is a continual fashion favourite for summer, however this year, fluorescent-hued clothing and accessories are bigger and bolder than ever with this season’s Australian runways being filled with neon’s glow.  Given how overbearing neon colours can potentially be, the easiest and most popular way of wearing neon this season is through accessories.  Neon scarves, belts, shoes, jewelry and even shades of nail polish are all simple and inexpensive ways of incorporating this trend into any outfit.  For those who are after a little more neon in their lives, wearing neon with neutrals or contrasting neon against black are great ways of wearing this trend.  Wearing a single piece of clothing with an outfit of an otherwise neutral colour palette enables the bright piece to be the focus of the outfit, establishing a bold, yet relatively tame look.  Black and neon may be polar opposites but they look great together and when these two colours are contrasted in an outfit, they can create a real stand out look.

Pairing Prints

Farewell winter with bold prints, in particular, by pairing separate prints together.  The art of mixing prints is among the trickiest of trends, however, when mixed well, mixed print outfits are fun and ultra chic.  When mixing prints, try to limit yourself to two prints as mixing with three or more can become overwhelming.  If your outfit does call for an additional piece, look to a simple and solid coloured garment that compliments your prints.  Additionally, mixing prints of a similar colour or palette will aid in blending your outfit.  Those who are still a little hesitant should try sticking to black and white prints for a classic alternative while those who are not yet prepared to mix prints, could try mixing pieces of different textures instead.  

Finding Floral

Floral prints are sprouting up everywhere this spring and with such a diverse range of designs available, there is something for almost everyone’s personal style and taste.  In particular, the floral blazer and the floral jeans/pants are massive this season.  To wear the floral blazer, pair it with a simple blouse and a pair of skinny leg jeans or wear it over a LWD for a fresh spring look.  To wear the floral jeans, choose a top or blazer in a colour that is in the print and pair it with the jeans.  Similar to mixing prints, sticking to the same colour palette when wearing floral prints is a good idea.  Additionally, when deciding on a piece, ensure you are choosing pieces that flatter your body type, that is, if you have a petite figure then you should seek pieces with a smaller floral print while those who are taller can try larger and bolder floral prints.
